HERE Motorsport is the brainchild of our founder, Alex Matthews, who is a lightweight car collector (GT3T, 964, NAS Defender, etc.), motorsport enthusiast, and lover of all things with wheels!
It's only fitting, then, that to celebrate the formation of HERE Motorsport, we got involved with Tim and Safari Special, amongst other projects.
HERE Motorsport will be showcasing car culture, Baja, motorcycles, and more, with a capsule clothing collection coming in the fall.
This year, De La Calle participated as a sponsor for a competitor in the Norra Mexican 1000: Safari Special, an archivist project devoted to desert racing and the unique blend of SoCal and Mexican culture during 1967-1977.
Safari Special was founded by Tim Martin, whose grandfather sparked his love and interest in the Mexican 1000. This year’s drivers include Tim Martin, Dorothy Groza, Sera Trimble, Emmy Laine Pickett, Aaron Belchere, Stephen Sakulsky, Chris Boadle, Matt Johnson, and Dallin Jolly.

THE BRIEF
The Mexican 1000 race takes in Baja, Mexico, a region that acts as a bridge between California and Mexico. De La Calle has a rich history in both Mexico and Southern California, making this sponsorship a match made in heaven. De La Calle wanted to create a film that really dives into the history of the race, the team, and partnership between the brand and Safari Special.
OUR APPROACH
Alex and Tim began a conversation about how De La Calle could get involved in a way that made sense for the brand and their mission. HERE Studio designed merch items like patches, hats, and stickers for the team and the crowd in the different cities in Mexico.
